Doctor Thorne
By: Anthony Trollope
Narrated by: Timothy West
Series: Chronicles of Barsetshire, Book 3
Length: 20 hrs and 51 mins

Doctor Thorne was simply beautiful. By this point I was fully comfortable in Trollope’s world and able to enjoy the story without needing to stop and understand its surrounding context.

The characters, relationships, prose, and imagery all came together wonderfully. It retained the slower and more graceful Victorian pace I had been looking for while also giving me a story that felt genuinely engaging.

Of the first three books, this was easily my favorite. Gorgeous writing and a beautiful read.
